PEIDI’s New Zealand Pet Food Factory Launched

March 16, 2024

PEIDI Animal Nutrition Technology Co., Ltd. announced yesterday that its production line at its Tamarunui factory in New Zealand was officially put into operation on March 12, with an annual output of 40,000 tons of high-quality pet staple food. This is PEIDI’s first high-end staple food production line. While helping the company to enrich its production capacity structure and its own product matrix, it also further deepens the globalization of the manufacturing and supply chain.

New Zealand is one of the most important high-end pet food exporters in the world. 95% of the country’s green coverage area provides high-quality, cost-effective and multi-category raw material advantages. As early as 2019, PEIDI started preparations for the New Zealand factory, and based on market trends, in addition to its traditional advantageous products such as healthy pet chews and meat snacks, it has also launched pet staple food projects to produce premium pet food with a fresh meat content of up to 90%.

As was revealed by PEIDI, the New Zealand factory has brought in the world’s leading equipment from the US and uses advanced hot double extrusion technology for production and manufacturing. The entire process from mixing pet food to packaging the batch only takes about one hour. The fully automated production line eliminates product safety risks caused by manual intervention in the production process. The company will also take advantage of local natural advantages to add local specialties such as Manuka honey, kiwi fruit and fresh green-lipped mussels to pet food to provide customized staple food for the market. The factory has a designed production capacity of 40,000 tons and has the potential to operate 24 hours a day. In the future, production capacity can be continuously released as needed. A batch of new staple food products with obvious characteristics, including its self-produced New Zealand staple grains and freeze-dried grains, will be launched one after another in the second half of the year. This is another important move in the globalization strategy of PEIDI, which comes from the small town of Shuitou, Wenzhou, China. Previously, the company has built factories in Vietnam and Cambodia respectively to produce pet chew food, meat snacks and other products. Its overseas factory production capacity is being released and tapped.
